Corn Treatment 23rd November 2009, 22:16
Corns are generally small and are formed on the toes, while calluses are bigger and generally develop on the soles of the feet and sometimes on the palms. These may or may not be painful at first, but there is always a danger that they may become painful at a later stage. Instead of using those over-the-counter corn-plasters which might result in blisters and ulcers and harm your skin, why not consider some of these simple and effective home remedies. Corns can be described as painful build-ups of the skin, usually noticed either on the soles of the feet or over the joints of the toes. They are mainly the result of wearing shoes that fit too tight, which leads to excessive pressure on a particular area and results in a build-up. Though corns are not life-threatening, they can be pretty painful for a person. Corn pads are available in the market, which help in the getting rid of the corns.

Corns are caused by wearing poorly-fitting boots or shoes. They usually occur over bony prominences or between the toes where there is prolonged friction or rubbing. Other causes are arthritis and improperly positioned toes. The most common cause of a corn developing is due to ill-fitting footwear, especially tight or narrow fitting shoes that cause the toes to become cramped into a small space where pressure builds up and friction between the shoe and the tissues of the foot occurs. Sometimes a deformity of the foot may be to blame, especially those with hammer toes or bunions as these condition force prominences to develop and increase the risk of some areas of tissue to feel pressure and rub against the shoe, when it normally wouldn’t.

Surgery is rarely used to treat calluses or corns. However, if an underlying bone structure (such as a hammer toe or bunion) is causing a callus or corn, surgery can be used to alter or remove the bone structure. This is used only if other treatment has failed. If treatment for soft corns does not work, the skin between the bases of the two toes can be sewn together (syndactylization). This creates a partial webbing where the soft corn had been. Wearing shoes that fit properly will most definitely get rid of corns. I can’t believe people actually need to be told this, but I think we all know how deep denial can get when we’re trying to achieve that perfect image.

Most people will benefit from using corn pads applied directly onto the affected area. These can be brought from many shops or chemists and aim to cushion the area prevent friction from occurring and reduce pressure. If you have any underlying medical illnesses such as diabetes or problems with circulation, always discuss your options with your GP or Practice Nurse as many corn plasters and pads are not recommend for use if these conditions are present. Use a pumice stone or other hard skin relieving device or lotion to try and soften the area and reduce the likelihood of it developing further. Treat any areas of hard skin appropriately before a corn can grow.

Common Fever 23rd November 2009, 22:08
Fever is not a disease. Fever occurs when the body's internal "thermostat" raises the body temperature above its normal level. Normal body temperature varies by person, age, activity, and time of day. The average normal body temperature is 98.6°F (37°C). Fever serves as one of the body's natural defenses against bacteria and viruses which cannot live at a higher temperature. Raising the temperature a few degrees can give the body the winning edge. In addition, a fever activates the body's immune system, accelerating the production of white blood cells, antibodies, and many other infection-fighting agents. A slight fever can make it harder for them to survive. Fever also activates your bodies immune system. Once the higher temperature is achieved, the shivering and chills stop. When the infection has been overcome or drugs such as aspirin or acetaminophen (Tylenol) have been taken, the thermostat resets to normal and the body's cooling mechanisms switch on: the blood moves to the surface and sweating occurs.

A fever isn't a disease. It's a symptom of an infection, typically caused by a cold or the flu. When you have a cold, for instance, your immune system signals to your brain that it needs more body heat in order to attack infectious cells, and your body temperature rises.

The leaves of holy basil are one of the most effective of several home remedies in the treatment of common fever. A decoction made of about twelve grams of these leaves, boiled in half a liter of water, should be administered twice daily with half a cup of milk, one teaspoon of sugar and a quarter teaspoon of powdered cardamom (chhoti elaichi). This will bring down the temperature.

Drink lots of water to compensate for the loss of body fluid. This will also help to reduce the body temperature. To immediately reduce high body temperature, boil powder of 2 to 3 tsp dry roasted fenugreek seeds. Strain the water and add a drop of ghee to it and drink. Drink juice made out of sweet basil leaves twice or thrice a day. Prepare linden tea by boiling 1 tbsp of linden flower in 1 cup of water and drink it hot. Brew willow bark tea and drink it by taking small sips. Willow bark has some aspirin related compound. If you are not comfortable with it then use black elder. The worst thing a person can do for a fever is to take medication that will stop the fever. Stopping a fever only sets you up to have the fever return at a later time. A fever simply denotes healing and healing should never be put off or delayed nor should it be interfered with. A fever naturally breaks at 104 or 105 degrees if you don't interfere with it by prematurely stopping it.

Responsible spiritually conscious and mature people know their lives are in their own hands and irresponsible and spiritually unconscious and immature people (a/k/a religious people, the common folk) believe their lives are exclusively in some God's hand and that they have absolutely no say so or power over their lives. They believe their fate is sealed and there's nothing that can be done about it. Heat loss may be an effect of (possibly a combination of) heat conduction, convection, radiation or evaporation (sweating, perspiration). There are several things you to help bring the temperature down and make the person more comfortable. Keep the room at a comfortable temperature, but make sure that fresh air is circulating. Make sure they drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration. Give ice cubes to suck.

Eczema Treatment 13th November 2009, 22:21
Eczema refers to the various kinds of skin inflammation. Atopic dermatitis or a topic eczema is one of the most common forms of eczema. It is a common skin complaint around the world. Technically, the medical term "eczema" refers to a crusty, dull (seldom shiny except in infants) red rash. Eczema is caused by an underlying condition, a common skin irritation called a topic dermatitis. You can have topic dermatitis without having eczema, but you can't have eczema without having a topic dermatitis. Eczema, or dermatitis as it is otherwise called, is a form of skin disease where the skin becomes dry and itchy. When eczema worsens, the skin may get red and you may see inflammations in the affected area. Eczema is an unpleasant inflammatory skin condition that is most common amongst infants and children, but millions of adults are affected as well. It usually occurs on the neck, face, hands and legs, often in folds of the skin such as the inner elbow or behind the ears.

What Causes Eczema/Atopic Dermatitis?

The cause of Eczema is not known, but the disease seems to result from a combination of genetic (hereditary) and environmental factors. You will find this disorder in Children more often than not when either one or both parents have or had Eczema or other such allergic conditions like Asthma or Hay fever.

Symptoms of this condition include redness and itchiness, and the skin is usually dry and inflamed. If you cannot control yourself from scratching the Eczema, it will often split the skin and in some cases it will become infected. This then causes the infected area to weep and crack.

Eczema is a very common condition around the world. Though there is no exact known cause, nor any cure, it can usually be controlled by topical applications that reduce the swelling, and by boosting the immune system to prevent further outbreaks. Children and infants are often affected, but in many cases it is a temporary condition that completely disappears within a couple of years. Except in the most severe cases, the commonly prescribed cortisone steroid eczema treatment is unnecessary, and can even be harmful. Skin care forms the basis of all eczema treatment. One has to moisturize and protect the skin all the time so that it is not exposed to dust, pollution or anything that can act as a trigger to eczema. There are particular kind of clothes meant for eczema patients, particularly kids and infants which cover their hands so that they do not scratch themselves. Such protection is very important for eczema treatment.
Avoid perfumed powders, soaps, detergents such as laundry powders and some deodorants. Try and keep a comfortable humidity level (not too hot nor to cold).

Try and avoid contact with some grasses and pollens. Keep rooms well ventilated especially in the warmer months to avoid excess sweating. One of the essential elements of eczema treatments is itching control. You need to apply enough moisturizer to the affected area, so that the skin gets soothed. Only moisturizing the dry skin, you can refrain from having rashes. Thereby the itching and scratching get prevented, and possibly you can come out from this vicious cycle.

Indigestion Cure 9th November 2009, 03:48
Indigestion is called as Agnimandya in Ayurveda. In fact, indigestion is not a disease in itself, but it is a manifestation of some problem with the gastrointestinal tract. The agni is responsible for the proper digestion of food in the body. When there is an imbalance of the agni – which means digestive fire – then the digestion process is disrupted. This is when indigestion occurs. Agni can be vitiated due to several reasons. Eating the wrong foods, eating at wrong times, having negative thoughts in the mind, excessive stress and even physical problems with the gastrointestinal tract can cause indigestion. Indigestion must be cured quickly, or it will build up toxins in the body, which are called as ama.

Indigestion could be a symptom or a result of a currently occurring disease. It might be caused by a disease in the digestive system like ulcer or gastro esophageal reflux disease. However, the most common causes among many people are eating too much, eating too quickly, eating highly fatty foods or eating during stressful situations. These factors cause the stomach to not digest the food properly. Fatty foods are really difficult to digest especially those that contain insoluble fats.

Treatment

Sexual Impotence Treatment 29th October 2009, 01:55
Impotence is medically called as erectile dysfunction. It is the term given to the condition in which a person does not get a proper erection, i.e. the erection is not hard enough to carry out proper penetrative sex. Impotence is an issue with an alarmingly large number of men in the world today. A major responsible factor is the hectic lifestyle that we lead today. Inability of a man to have or maintain an erection in order for sexual intercourse to take place is called erectile dysfunction. Impotence varies in severity; some men have a total inability to achieve an erection, others have an inconsistent ability to achieve an erection, and still others can sustain only brief erections. Impotence falls into two broad categories, impotence caused by a physical condition and that caused by a psychological condition. Impotency can catch a man of any age and is generally the symptom of some underlying psychological or physical factor; moreover, it is equally essential to realize that there are many ways to be adopted as impotence treatment. Many properties, present in natural herbs, can fulfill the special requirement for men to cure male impotency.

Recently there has been a surge of medicinal advancement in the field of penile erections. With the discovery of the powers of sildenafil citrate in guaranteeing male erections, there was a spurt of other chemical discoveries with the same effects. However none of the later drugs managed to capture the power of Viagra, which is the market name of sildenafil citrate. Some other drugs that have the powers of creating and maintaining erections are Levitra and Cialis, though they are not as popular. Furthermore, all these drugs come with several side effects, which are still being studied. One of the best (and the safest) resorts in the case of impotence is herbal remedies. Indian traditions are using several herbs since ancient times in order to cure the disease. Saw palmetto, ginseng, kawa kawa, oat, caltrop, etc. are used in different preparations in order to cure impotence. Some of them have really been found to be beneficial by the western world also, but their effects are still a matter of research.

Natural Treatment

Genuine yohimbe bark (which does contain the alkaloid yohimbine) is purchased in bulk by the pharmaceutical industry that produces yohimbine tablets (primarily Plantecam in Cameroon). Pseudo yohimbe bark, which is much cheaper but contains almost no yohimbine alkaloid, is sold to the manufacturers of health
supplements.Yohimbine appears to work better for erectile dysfunction not caused by a physical problem. There are many health care providers who believe that mental therapy is equally important to treat man for his impotency. This is because over anxiety and stress may alter the man sexual hormones and give rise to male impotency. Ancient science like Ayurveda also believes that male impotency treatment may include the panchakarma that helps in rejuvenates male reproductive system and organs.

Sleep Apnea Treatment 29th October 2009, 01:46
Sleep Apnea is a potentially dangerous disorder because it is a condition when breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder characterized by pauses in breathing during sleep. Sleep apnea is recognized as a problem by others witnessing the individual during episodes or is suspected because of its effects on the body (squeal). In sleep apnea, your breathing stops or gets very shallow while you are sleeping. Each pause in breathing typically lasts 10 to 20 seconds or more. These pauses can occur 20 to 30 times or more an hour. Symptoms may be present for years, even decades without identification, during which time the sufferer may become conditioned to the daytime sleepiness and fatigue associated with significant levels of sleep disturbance. In adults, the most typical individual with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome is obese, with particular heaviness at the face and neck.

Sleep apnea is a common disorder that can be very serious. There are two distinct forms of sleep apnea: Central and Obstructive. Sleep apnea can cause high blood pressure and other cardiovascular disease, memory problems, weight gain, impotency, and headaches. Obstructive sleep apnea is the most common category of sleep-disordered breathing. The prevalence of OSA among the adult population in western Europe and North America. The hallmark symptom of the disorder is excessive daytime sleepiness. Additional symptoms of sleep apnea include restless sleep, loud snoring (with periods of silence followed by gasps), falling asleep during the day, morning headaches, trouble concentrating, irritability, forgetfulness, mood or behavior changes, anxiety, and depression. Maxillomandibular advancement (MMA). A more invasive surgery usually only tried in difficult cases where other surgeries have not relieved the patient's OSA. Apneas are usually measured during sleep (preferably in all stages of sleep) over a two-hour period.

In order to select the best sleep apnea treatment, you must consider whether or not the procedure is safe. What type of product warning does it have? If you are looking for an anti-snoring device, you should look for one that has been medically tested and doctor recommended. One such product is, for instance, called the Sleep Genie. While supporting the jaw, it helps the mouth to remain closed using a comfortable nylon lycra blend. It is important to understand that the Sleep Genie is not intended to be a cure for sleep apnea, but rather a product that can work to improve sleep quality. In addition, apnea sufferers who use the Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine may benefit from the added use of the Sleep Genie, which helps to keep the mouth closed. Users of the CPAP machine need to sleep with their mouth closed in order to keep the air, provided by the machine, from escaping during sleep.

If you find it hard to sleep a good tip is to turn off the TV, computer or whatever your doing at least fifteen minutes before bed, and let yourself relax, How many more reasons do we need before we realize the importance of sleep in our lives. And yet loss of sleep could also lead to a loss of physical and mental health, to poor memory, poor coordination, and now, to weight gain and obesity. Sleep tight for a healthier and slimmer population.
